Community Reviews
My visit
reviewed on: 09/26/2017 by AnonymousThe person that took us on tour was nice and the community looked clean. This community did have different care levels in different parts of the community. We were looking for a community where my loved ones were able to stay together.
communications skills are lacking
reviewed on: 10/22/2015 by AnonymousAster Retirement Community Of Marshfield is going well. I will say their communications skills are lacking there. They don't seem to pass information on from staff member to staff member. There have been some issues with meds. I am just going to have to have a meeting with them regarding the medication. Otherwise it is a beautiful. We are satisfied with the arrangements.
Nice place, overall
reviewed on: 03/17/2017 by AnonymousI think they do a very nice job at Aster Retirement Community. The staff is friendly and hardworking, and the facility itself seems like a nice place. They've got a good variety of activities and events, and my loved one has had very good things to say about the food! There have been a few minor maintenance issues, but in general they've been accommodating and on top of things. Our loved one really seems happy here.
Disheartened
reviewed on: 12/18/2018 by Julia SmithVery disappointed with the treatment my loved one received at this facility. When touring this retirement home I was excited for the person moving in. It had a homey feeling to it. Staff all seemed very friendly. Things went downhill fast after my loved one moved in. There was a wonderful activity director there at the time 3 weeks later he quit due to the management. Numerous employees have left since also due to the manager on staff. She in my opinion treats the seniors there like they are children. She doesn’t like hearing complaints and frankly doesn’t care. I believe this could be a womderful community for the elderly but it takes a caring, kind, patient individual to run this kind of facility and she isn’t that type of person. Very sad. Please if you have a loved one looking to move do your research before having them move in to this facility.
Unpleasant experience
reviewed on: 12/15/2018 by AnonymousThe facility itself is very nice; however, there are definitely issues here that potential residents should be made aware of. There used to be a waiting list for people to get into this facility. That is no longer the case and there is a reason for that. Since Joyce, the current Executive Director took over, there has been A LOT of staff turnover. When they have a cook, the meals are very good. Unfortunately, they do not always have a cook. They have had staff leave due to safety concerns (please look on Indeed.com for reviews). If you are thinking about moving your loved one to this facility, first do some research. Talk to some of the current (and former) residents of this facility. Do not let Joyce or her staff decide who you are going to talk to and make sure to have a conversation without management present. It may also be in your best interest to record any conversation with Joyce or your words may be twisted. Bottom line: In my opinion, Joyce does not have the temperament nor the personality for the position she is in. If a resident brings up any concerns, her answer is for them to “push their button”, she does not want to deal with any concerns that residents may have and tries to intimidate and bully them. Joyce has even gone so far as to suggest a dining room monitor to make sure that some of the residents do not say anything negative about this facility. Unless your loved one is very meek and has no opinion about anything, I would suggest searching elsewhere for a place for them to live.
