Community Reviews
Madrona House--My Mom is thriving in this caring community!
reviewed on: 04/18/2019 by Danna BrumleyMy Mother has been a resident at Madrona House on Bainbridge Island for nearly a year. As she is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, she is in need of 24 hr care. My father had done all he could for 6 years, but it was too much for his 80+ years! Though these transitions are always very difficult, the staff at Madrona was incredibly kind and did all they could to help us through it. Their sincere sympathy and caring attitudes went such a long way in assuaging the inevitable guilt and self-doubt that accompanies making the decision to move your loved one into a care facility. The best part is that my Mom is thriving! She is eating better and healthier and the staff were thoughtful (and experienced) enough to suggest she be served finger foods or have her food cut up so she could feed herself (as she is no longer able to hold utensils). She gets exercise, she has friends and she adores the daily music and many other options provided by the wonderful Activities Directors. Finally, I must commend the Madrona Staff for their deep commitment to constantly improve their quality of care and also for helping the residents' families adjust to this huge change by holding monthly social gatherings, meetings with helpful speakers and topics and providing much needed resources for this new phase of life. I feel exceedingly grateful to have Madrona House in our community. If you can no longer care for your loved one at home, there's another kind of family that can provide the care in a professional way, but just as important; in a compassionate way.
10 years of caring experience with Bainbridge Senior Living
reviewed on: 07/21/2019 by DaughterMy mother was a resident with Bainbridge Senior Living for nearly 10 years, 7 at Madison Avenue and 3 years in the Memory Care unit at Madrona House. The staff are wonderful and caring individuals at both facilities and, overall, I was very pleased and my mother was loved and well cared for. As with all senior living facilities, there were occasional rough times when they were understaffed with experienced personnel - but management was always open, listened to the families, and took corrective actions when needed. The respect and dignity staff showed my mother and me during her final weeks and days was truly wonderful and comforting.
Madrona House
reviewed on: 03/12/2019 by Linda Wohlsen, Certified Care ManagerI work as a private care manager in the area and so I have been in and out of assisted living and memory care facilities for many years. I have had clients at the Madrona since they opened five years ago. They have a number of long-term care staff who have consistently cared for my clients with loving and skillful attention. They often let me know about my client's care proactively so that I can work in concert with them and other providers. My interaction with nursing, administration and maintenance has been excellent, especially this past year, as our goal is to work as a team for the betterment of the residents. I feel that I can bring any information forward and have them review, give me their honest opinion, and then make appropriate changes, as need be. The staff work very hard to make changes and accommodations as quickly as possible. If someone you know needs assisted living or memory care, I would recommend contacting them to see if the Madrona House might be a good match.

Committed and Caring Staff
reviewed on: 06/06/2017 by Alexa RosenthalBoth my parents live at the Madrona House on Bainbridge Island. My father lives in Assisted Living and my mother lives in Memory Care. I moved my parents from the east coast. This was a very big decision and we have no regrets. The staff is caring and committed to each and every resident. My parents feel safe and well cared for. Communication with staff and management is productive, effective and positive. I am thankful to have my parents living so close to me in a facility that respects my parents and supports me and my whole family in a process that is not always easy.
