We Feel Like We Made The Best Choice For Our Loved One

reviewed on: 03/26/2021 by TG

Aside from the Covid stuff, there's lot of rules in place because of that, they seem to be pretty competent. They provide everything our loved one needs, and he seems to be happy here. He's fully mentally competent, so he would tell us if he thought something was wrong. They provide meals, laundry, activities, and they have a nurse there 24 hours a day. So if anything comes up, they have someone to assess the situation before they would call an ambulance or anything. They do a good job here.

Spacious gracious living

It is a spacious place. They have an enclosed outdoor space with a path, benches and flowers so you can feel safe with them going outside. Room sizes are good. Food is pretty good. They have not been the greatest with communication since she has moved in. They are accommodating when you drop things off for your loved ones now that you can not visit. They also have a glassed in area at the front of the building where you can go and talk to and see your loved one through the glass.

Very nice facility

This is a great facility for the price. The building is well maintained and looks like an upscale hotel rather than an assisted living facility. However my mother does seem bored a lot of the time and I haven't seen very many activities other than Bingo or getting their nails done. I also think the rent is a little high considering the amount of space she has and that she needs no hands on care. The staff is super friendly, they know us by name and they really seem to care and most importantly, they do not have a a high turner over of employees.

mostly good

Some of the staff at Emeritus at Lexington Gardens (now Brookdale) has been really good. However, mother at one point got away from them and was unsupervised for too long during which time she had a fall and got injured. I was not too happy about that, but things have gone well since that incident.

Living large

Some of the activities they had for the residents they had were games, exercise classes, they took trips like to the fair. The food is just okay sometimes. The rooms are more spacious then other communities looked at. The outdoor space was very nice, we would recommend this to other families or friends but with reservations.
