Friendly Tour
reviewed on: 07/06/2017 by AnonymousI had a nice experience during my tour of this community. Unfortunately it wasn't the one for us, but my tour went well. The community looked nice, and the staff was kind. Everyone was friendly, but I did find another community that suited our needs better.
Memory care made a HUGE improvement
reviewed on: 10/03/2013 by PattiThree years ago when I looked at this place, there was no way I would have taken my father there, it stinked. Apparently, in between then and now, they got a new director and it's all been remodeled, but they really had to convince me to come see it again. It's perfect, it does not smell at all, they have done an awesome job, it's totally opposite of what it was before. They ripped out all the carpeting, they have all new stuff in, the care is very good, the ladies are so sweet and they are very nice. My father's always clean when I go over to visit. There are things that he can do, but he's at the point where he can't do much. They sing old hymns and stuff and they say he sings with them, when I was there visiting my father I could hear them playing memory type games so they're very good. This person that took over, the director of memory care is actually in that unit instead of down the hall, she interacts a lot more with the people there.
HarborChase considers family values and family involvement
reviewed on: 04/05/2021 by AndrewWe had a previous family member here. And we came to the same conclusion that his was a good place for our loved ones. It seems to have a good family atmosphere. I've only interacted with administrative staff. I haven't talked with any of nurses or anything. The upper staff are very friendly and willing to listen to help make things better and deal with any complaints. They seem to have a good system for the different levels of care. And of course, you get the help that you allow. I think they have been fair in wanting to help, but my loved one has been pushing them away a bit. The food has been pretty good. We got to try the salmon one day, and it was excellent. My loved ones love the breakfast but tell me the other things are not as good. That could be in part because he forgets to place his order and ask for the things he wants. They offer plenty of activities, and my loved ones enjoy exercises, devotions, and bingo. One of the reasons we chose this community was the price and the value, and also the open air visitations. We feel like there's less paranoia regarding the pandemic, which we think is a good thing. We found that they maintained a sense of community even during the pandemic, which was not the case in other places we looked.
very pleased
reviewed on: 06/04/2015 by AnonymousThey have done an excellent job caring not only for the patient, but for the family. For example, when I moved mother in, we had not fully paid for everything, and they cared more about us and my mother than they did getting their check. There was one little incident we had where one of the staff members did not do what she was supposed to do, but I contacted the director, the matter was resolved promptly, and there have been no issues since. They seem to be taking great care of my mother and I am very pleased with them.
'Buyer' Beware!
reviewed on: 04/02/2014 by AThomasI made the decision to move my mother (Alzheimer's) from an assisted living facility in Georgia to be closer to me in North Carolina last year. I LOVED HarborChase when I first visited. The staff was warm & friendly and genuinely caring. The facility itself was clean and in great condition. After 5 short months at HarborChase, I made another decision to move my mother out. Overall her care was awesome and I have no complaints about that. What I am unhappy about is that from day one, it seemed like management was constantly adding new charges to our monthly invoices. I went into the move thinking I would be paying one thing & each month it got increased. Not one month went by that I didn't question the charges or wonder why it kept getting more expensive. In December, they made the decision to program her for Memory Care during the day without consulting me first. Once this happened, the pressure increased to move her into the Memory Care Unit full time when a room became available. I knew that making this move would mean an even higher monthly invoice & financially I just couldn't do it. When I wouldn't agree to move her, management basically stated that they could no longer care for my mother. She is now in a small group home and is doing great!
