Mom's New Home
reviewed on: 08/09/2015 by azbeachladyMy 92 year old mother moved into Homewood Heights July 6th. She had lived in her private home for over 67 years and alone for the last 11 years. This was a huge change for her. But Melody, Nancy, Sharon and the entire staff, kitchen, care givers and maintenance have been wonderful in making her feel welcome and cared for. She has met many of the other residents who are fun and seem anxious to get to know her. My mother has an eating difficulty and Ricio, the head chef, has wonderfully accommodated this and she is now eating more and gaining back her strength. Thank you all HOMEWOOD HEIGHTS.
Getting access to the facility after 5:00pm
reviewed on: 07/11/2021 by Neil BOur Mom has been in Homewood Heights for nine months and my biggest complaint is getting her back into the facility after 5:00pm. I understand that they cannot have someone at the desk all the time but when you use the lobby phone to let them know you are in the lobby - and NO ONE answers the phone there may be an issue. Someone is suppose to carry a phone and based on the results I see this as a huge problem. Twice I had to take my Mom to her apartment in the dark requiring her to walk on uneven ground! Another time, my husband had to rattle the doors to get someone's attention. We are not the only visitors encountering this problem. Although I have shared this concern with staff members nothing is improving.
No real common area
reviewed on: 10/31/2013 by DaughterIt's assisted living but I didn't care for the fact that she would have to use an elevator and she gets off an elevator and she forgets where she's going, but mostly, although they're nice rooms, if you want to visit with someone in the common area, there isn't one. If you want to sit in the lobby areas, there isn't much there, they have one chair on each side of the elevator and in a little alcove there's some seats but I really didn't think she would like that one very well.
