Would recommend for Alzheimer's care

reviewed on: 12/11/2020 by Mike Kingery

We chose Haciendas at Grace Village because they specialized in Alzheimer's care, they were smaller units (12 people per unit), and they have different levels of care within the units. Since they all looked the same, he did not have to get acclimated with a totally new place. Each room was very nice and had their own bathroom. I would recommend.

Haciendas at grace village: A Lifesaver!

reviewed on: 10/24/2014 by Relieved in NM

Haciendas at Grace village saved my life. My husband's dementia quickly deteriorated within 6 months. Despite attending seminars, finding caregivers and reorganizing my life, I was not prepared to handle him in his worsened condition. I visited 6 facilities in the span of a week. As soon as I observed the staff, residents and facilities, I knew I had found a new home for my husband. I continue to be impressed with the care he receives. The staff cares about for each resident, treating each one as an individual. The facility is modern, spotless and safe. Each resident has his/her own room and bathroom, which is what dementia sufferers need. Even the food is great! While Haciendas may be a bit more expensive than other facilities, it is well worth it. My husband gets fabulous care. And I have peace of mind.

Genuinely Concerned and Caring

They seem genuinely concerned with each resident that is staying there in the facility. The staff does extremely well at trying to adapt to handle the special needs of all the individual residents living there.

A place for mom

We chose this facility because we got a good first impression on our tour, it was also very clean. The location was important to us as well so that way we could visit often. Their approach was a little different than others we looked into and it seemed like a good idea at the time. They have 4 separate buildings ;laid out identically that were based off of the level of care that the resident needed. Her level of functioning was higher than most of the others in her building but she was limited. I do think she would have benefited from different day to day socialization, but the staff was good about treating everyone the same. They were very good about activities here and overall I would recommend to others looking.

Game Changer

My grandfather lived here for the last ten months of his life. Not only was their care of his physical needs (assistance with showers, medications, etc.) great, but how the staff cared for him and loved him is what really touched our family. After moving in, he went from having been isolated and alone at his last community, to always being in contact with others, sitting in the front, visiting, interacting easily. When we left after visits and he became sad, we would see him waving to us from the porch with tears in his eyes, and then his caregiver came out, hugged him, and smiling and talking to him took him back inside. The design is very thoughtful, feels like a big house and not a people warehouse. The cooks were always mindful of my granddad's picky nature about food, and knew him well enough that they served him something he loved without him having to return food he didn't like and ask for something else. The management is fantastic, it is clear that the caregivers follow the lead of their managers, Michelle & Lisa, when it comes to caring about and loving their residents. I can't say enough.
