A Happy Place To Live
reviewed on: 08/08/2015 by AnonymousAll the staff was very friendly and very loving and very helpful and all the patients we saw there looked happy and they knew them all by name. In general Seaside Manor seemed like a really happy place to live.
Review of Seaside Manor - Ormond Beach, FL
reviewed on: 03/18/2016 by AnonymousLoved it. Very clear and clean air as soon as I entered. Was greeted by Jeannie [Removed] with whom I had an appointment. Lovely lady warm and welcoming manner. Quaint decor simple cottage-type of feel. Was introduced to residents and staff along the tour. Everyone pleasant residents happy. Calm and orderly atmosphere. Very productive meeting with Jeannie did not feel pressured. She answered my questions with complete understanding of my needs. She got me right away. The apartments are a good size offer what you need. This was my first visit. I felt so at home. And had full confidence that my mother would feel comfortable and calm. I know she would be safe and secure . The fact that it is a small residence appealed to me.
Not Good At Following Through With What They Promised
reviewed on: 06/22/2016 by AnonymousOur experiences with this community have not been good. They are not taking good care of my mother in law at all. They provide bad care, and the staff are not good a following instructions. Everything they promised us they never followed through with. The community is not well maintained. At one point my mother in law had unexplained bruises on her arms. They are very under staffed. I would not recommend this community to anybody.
Its ok.
reviewed on: 09/17/2015 by AnonymousMy loved one lives at Seaside Manor. They have been there a couple years. When we first moved them in the place was alive, activities everyday, food looked and smelled good, they said they were working on some renovations. My loved one for to get out at least once a month for either a beach drive or to church, sometimes out to eat. They would listen to live music, do crafts, exercise with key staff, even help prepare food. They would allow residents to stir brownie batter or decorate a cookie then eat it, what a nice idea. Also participate in trivia and sing a longs. But recently in the past 3 or 4 months almost everything has stopped. I think a volunteer still comes in and plays bingo with a couple residents occasionally, and paints people nails but that's all I've seen happening. I heard a couple people went to church and to the store in the last few months, but it's less frequent. Its not as lively anymore when I visit. Something is missing. Also our family feels that upper management forgets about the current residents once in, and is just worried about the next one who might move in. It never used to be that way. A nice man ran the place when our loved one came and we use to see him playing pool with a couple of the men. The Activity girls would let the residents arrange the flowers and even paint and make jewelry. 1 lady would sit around and tear paper, I thought it was strange but the activity girl said it was too therapy and was good for arthritus and the lady would ask to do it, they would donate the paper to a local rabbit farm. Now NONE of this is happening. We don't even get a newsletter anymore in the mail - we had never gotten one, then for about 2 years we did, it was so nice to see what was going on there. Maybe they don't send it anymore because there is nothing going on. I think the nice activity girls left, a couple nice cooks left, the 2 nice marketing people left and a nice housekeeper left. All the good workers have just up and left. The only person I recognize anymore is the head cook and a girl on 2nd floor who passed meds. So many new faces. I wish it was the way it use to be. We are considering taking our loved one out. But we know they have made some friends with other residents. We don't have complaints about the care, just about the attitudes of people, the grumpy janitor, the know it all director, the it's not a big deal nurse, the I better check my cell phone workers and the lack of quality activities these days! Just heard the Secretary who did billing is leaving now too. She was the only one I could really get in touch with over there. If your taking your loved one there, visit all hours of the day and night before making your choice. The director will tell you whatever you want to hear, I've asked a few things and it's usually just lip service back from her. She can be nice, yes, but just doesntvalways follow through with her promises. Wonder if that is why good staff has left. Good luck with your decision, hope this helps.
Terrible /horrible/ the worst!
reviewed on: 06/30/2016 by anonomousWe have gotten a first hand experience with BULLY practices ,and false promises. This have jeopardized the care of our loved one. The place is one step above Ghetto! It has nothing to do for anyone held in captivity on their memory care floor. This has been a nightmare from the very start . We would not recommend this to anyone ! EVER! This facility has nothing to do for their occupants ...NOTHING! If you want your loved one to die quickly from boredom and lack of physical activity and no mental stimulation , then you have found the right place. READ ever word in the contract (which I hope you NEVER sign) The executor /manager of the facility is a Bully. Its her way or the highway. Had DCF involved . Its your choice , but it was our nightmare!!!!!!!
